Making bash ignore duplicates

This is a quick one, to make Fedora systems act like the Debian and Ubuntu's default of not putting duplicate commands in ~/.bash_history, add the following line to /etc/profile:

HISTCONTROL=ignoredups

  • bash
  • Debian
  • Fedora
  • Ubuntu
  • EPKPhoto's blog
